Nature

The countryside in France was stunning. Vineyards as far as the eye could see emitting anticipation for the new growth of grapes and of course the harvest. i was in love with the huge bushes of rosemary and lavender.

i found vintage levi's!!! yes, i was mega excited. the night before we went to the market i told my husband...there will be vintage levi 501's there. the next day as we made our way through the stalls it was looking grim, cheap underwear and t shirts a plenty i was ready to bail, but inigo urged we walk back down the other side and low and behold we came upon a 40 foot table of vintage levi's in every size and color. HEAVEN. i sorted out a stack to try and climbed into the back of an old white van with a plywood floor and tried them on. I got 4 pairs and walked away from the market satisfied.

this month i styled and shot a photo shoot for the boutique with my cousin jaana hitzig. it is one of the most rewarding creative processes for me. The results are always a fascinating projection of the inner workings of my mind.

Food

i made a loaf of teff (naturally gluten free grain) Date bread. This was delicious to the point of addiction. The crumb was perfect, it was a little dense, deliciously sweet, and heated with butter it was irresistable. Teff grain is high in protein and fiber and felt nutritionally rich and giving to my body.

Nature

Daffodils have blown my mind as winter hangs on and spring pushes it's way in. they have been the most prevalent sign of new life so far this year. while everything else is still dull winter colors, daffodils decorate the streets, yards, and fields. despite the snowfall and snowmelt they have stayed tride through it all.

I love a good find in my local thrift shop, and this emerald 100% wool blazer was a win. It encompasses a vibe of winter/spring and adds deep rich color to my intentionally neutral wardrobe.

This month nini zogbaum completed a project per my request with the same wool from January's sweater creation. a matching hat and arm warmers. she did them on big needles and created a bulky knit that adds texture and statement to any outfit.

Food

This month signals spring and my diet reflects it. I am satisfied with lighter fresher foods that would only dampen and make me cold in the depths of winter. Local greens are available and adding some of my favorites to the greens makes it a satisfying and delicious meal. Organic roasted chicken, avocado, Feta, micro greens, and strawberries are my absolute favorites.

Nature

Spring is on the way but the threat of snow is still in the air, this is why i decided to bring spring inside. We put this peach tree inside and enjoyed it's life and beautiful pink flowers.

this month I knitted a hat from a flec yarn on size ten needles. I did a traditional fisherman knit giving it cozy squoosh.  it is the perfect yarn as it's base is a neutral cream color with happy flecs of orange, fuscia, and indigo.

Food

Pho, tons and tons of pho. In the dead of winter my body craves rich bone broth but instead of eating stew my body does better with some fresh greens and vegetables. this is why pho is the perfect winter food for me. it is loaded with nutrients and minerals from the broth but has live enzymes from the fresh vegetables that i throw on at the end to barely steam. spice is warming and aids in digestion so chili sauce and lime on top take it to the next level

Nature

the quiet healing space that a blanket of snow brings is unique. taking a walk through the snow has given me space and time for listening to podcasts as well as exercise. it gets my blood pumping while being in a state of appreciation for natures beauty and allows my mind to be in a meditative state that sets me up to handle the daily unexpected. i am also an avid photographer and the photo inspiration is an endless opportunity for creation.

This month brought the completion of my favorite fashion project to date. It started with 6 skeins of yarn, knitting needles, and two women, myself and my dear aunt Nini Zogbaum. Together we created a prototype sweater from the depths of our minds. This sweater organically came about and is now the lovechild of an avid knitter and an avid fashion author.

Nature

For the first time in 10 years I am witnessing the changing of seasons (I have lived in a tropical climate for the past 10 years). February is showing me growth is inevitable, despite the challenges that attempt to halt growth it is part of nature.

I thought living in a small town would be torture as far as finding inspired fashion pieces to add to my curated closet but it has been more rewarding than I imagined when i actually do find the odd piece in a thrift store, hardware store, or utility clothing store. This is a wool and suede blazer i found at goodwill.
